Dear visitor of DOGHELP; The Blog for your dog.
Theo van Hilst is the initiator and writer of the articles in DOGHELP. He is a Dog and Wolves behavior expert. His first official steps in working with dogs, he put over 30 years ago as a voluntary dog instructor at the Dutch Association for the Protection of Animals (Animal Protection). He has been certified through various official Kynological agencies, including through the SPCA International. Theo has successfully completed many behavioral education programs, including at the Open University of the Netherlands.
For 30 years he worked mainly with wolves, dogs and foxes, but also with many other animal species. In the Netherlands he was often invited to participate in television discussion programs about aggression in dogs. For years Theo wrote articles and columns in newspapers and magazines in Europe and the United States of America, focused on dog behavior.

(photo above: Together with the Dutch singer Sjoukje Spijker, known from the duo Mouth and Macneal. She was an ambassador for the wolf shelter).
His specialization is focused on solving behavioral problems in dogs. For years he has been committed to helping dog owners and their four-legged friend to solve their questions and problems. Recently also via this Blog DOGHELP.
In 1997 he developed, together with a veterinarian and a computer programmer, the dog computer program ProHond ©. This program is still used today during veterinary training at the Veterinary University in Utrecht.
(Together with Lupa and Pokino)
In 1997 Theo was the founder of the Dutch Wolf Conservation Center. (Wolvenopvang Nederland Foundation). This was the first wolf shelter in Europe, specializing in the care of wolves, which had been kept as pets. The aim of the center was to stop the (illegal) keeping of wolves as pets and to place the “abused animals” in nature parks or in zoos approved by the foundation.
Working with dogs and wolves has given Theo a unique experience and versatile behavioral knowledge. He used his dog behavioral knowledge to work with the wolves. Thanks to these wolves he gathered a lot of extra knowledge about the behavior of dogs.
(Photo above: puppy-school).
This experience and knowledge, the unique interaction between the behavior of the dog and the wolf, was converted by Theo during the 90’s into a completely new training method: “The natural stimulation of the inner motivation of the individual dog method”. This new method for raising dogs was supported by many behavioral experts, among others; Prof.Dr. Erich Klinghammer and Prof.Dr. Willem Netto. Nowadays, many components of this dog training method are used at many dog schools.
During the years that Theo works with and for dogs, he has successfully helped thousands of owners with their dog problems.
(During the 90’s, the Dutch wolf shelter also committed to rescue foxes)
This Blog is here to answer all your questions about the behavior of dogs. Theo will also be happy to help you solve all your dog problems.
Have fun reading the articles and the answers to your questions and / or problems in DOGHELP.
Sincerely,
Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids.
I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone! http://keo365.com/the-thao
